Dear partners, volunteers, friends, associates …
December is the month that marks the end of the year, but for us it is the beginning of the activities that promote volunteering, the benefits and opportunities it offers. And, in December, we celebrate our birthday, so it’s our turn to celebrate it as it should be.
Sunday (December 5) is International Volunteer Day and our 15th birthday. We came up with the idea to combine socializing, but also to do something useful for the environment and to help street children and vulnerable categories.
We asked for and received support from the Municipality of Kisela Voda and from our partners from “За почиста Македонија/For a Cleaner Macedonia”. We gather at 11 o’clock in the Culture Centre in the park opposite the Rasadnik towers in Kisela Voda and here we will collect donations of clothes and food for the street children in Shuto Orizari and for the socially endangered families in Kisela Voda.
With hot tea we will bring the volunteerism closer to the citizens and we will invite them to join us in changing the society for the better. We will introduce our domestic and foreign volunteers, and we will introduce the young people to the opportunities offered to them through the Erasmus + program, the projects and other activities that we implement. For decades, this building was more than just a “neighborhood community” or a movie theater for the citizens of the neighborhood. The home deserves to be lit up again and again to be a gathering place of ideas and positive energy.
At the same time, together with “За почиста Македонија/For a Cleaner Macedonia” and with the human resources and mechanization of the Municipality of Kisela Voda, we will clean Rasadnik and wipe the dust on the place that is considered one of the largest green areas in the city.
On Thursday, December 9, we continue with the promotion of volunteering and our activities in the complex-faculties of the University “St. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje. We will be in the lobby of the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Philology from 11 am to 1 pm. Students are the most progressive part of our society and that is why it is important for them to be more actively involved in the processes, to develop their personal capacity, which will benefit all of us as a whole.
That will be one of the topics of the panel discussion that we will hold on December 20 (Monday) from 15:00 to 17:00 at the headquarters of the Delegation of the European Union in Macedonia. The working title of the session will be: “The Impact of International Volunteering Projects in Local Communities”, and the discussion will give space to former and current volunteers, experts, but also representatives of international institutions to present their perspectives and views on volunteering in the context of international volunteering as a key tool for intercultural learning and promotion of European values.
Awaiting the holidays we will go in a more relaxed rhythm, we will organize “Living Library”. Want to know what it is? Come and see. We will inform you about the exact time and place.
Join us in all activities now, but also after. Volunteers are not paid not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless!
