Marija Ristova – One year later: How I changed society

One year after the start of the activities within the project: “European Youth at the frontlines of active citizenship: A Roadmap towards a collective South-North-East-West Momentum”, organized by the Volunteers Centre Skopje, and supported by the European Commission through the programs “Erasmus +” and “European Youth Together”, Marija Ristova from Kavadarci tells how and whether she changed society for the better.

– The idea of my project was to raise awareness for maintaining a clean environment in Kavadarci and around.

Were those activities announced from the beginning of the project or did you change them according to the conditions?

-There were small changes but overall almost everything went according to the plan.

What was the feedback of the participants?

-They were satisfied with the implemented activities and proud of the cleaning and planting of trees.

A year later: Have your activities changed society at least a little for the better?

-Yes, I see a big change in the attitude of others towards nature, the name KavInAction is often mentioned especially in situations when it comes to the human-nature relationship.

What is missing to raise social awareness in all fields?

-In order to raise social awareness in all fields, each individual should start raising awareness among himself, and thus make the rest of the circle around him.

Do you have an idea and initiative to continue with the activities and volunteering after the completion of the project?

-Although I plan to study abroad, I want to continue volunteering and get involved in activities that will contribute to better.
