Cześć! My name is Anna and I’m a 22 years old Polish girl who arrived in Macedonia for an ESC project called “Annual Growth”.
There is this one scene in one of my favourite TV series “The Office”, in which Michael Scott says: “I knew exactly what to do but in much more real sense I had no idea what to do”. All jokes aside, I was feeling like this in November. After graduating from my bachelor degree in Journalism and Social Communication, starting a master degree in Information Society (duh, another year in front of the computer) I knew that there was something missing. So, when my friend wrote to me in the middle of the night about volunteering in Macedonia, I couldn’t be happier. I already knew that I wanted to go. I mean, being in another country with the best friend, doing something that I love and getting to know new people – seriously, a dream came true.
Leaving Poland wasn’t easy, but I can’t wait to get to know Macedonia and the people who live here. I am so excited to learn about the place through the things I am passionate about: music, sport and food. Definitely food.
The ideas which VCS brings into the world, reminds me that there is still a lot of people who believe that it costs nothing to be a good person. This is my 6th day here, and I’m already surprised how people treat each other. My hope is that in the next 9 months I’ll try to be as good as I can, making people smile and maybe even try to change the world a little.
