Bon dia, Bon tardi to where you are from!

My name is Ilysha and I am 19 years old. I was born and raised in beautiful Aruba, a sunny island surrounded by blue beaches with white sand, located in the Caribbean.

I am currently studying to become a preschool teacher since I love working with children and have the patience for them. I decided to follow my dream and become a teacher for the kids to give them the best education, since they are the future.

I decided to volunteer in Skopje where I can also work with kids and that would help me to understand and spend time with kids that have different cultural backgrounds. Creating a magazine is also something new to me and learning new skills is a good way to help me grow. And I always say to help others if you wanna be helped (give good vibes to get good vibes).

In my free time I like to draw, listen to music, spend time with family and friends, going on walks – especially walking in nature. I love taking pictures of the sky, I also like to vlog. I am a very creative person and I would like to be a vlogger in the future, but I am also a bit shy. But hopefully I will make it to be a teacher/vlogger!

I am a very social person. I love to make new friends and spend quality time with friends and family. The best part of coming to Macedonia is meeting new people from different countries and learning about how they do things in their country. Let’s not forget about learning some of the words! And building new connections with the other volunteers.

This is my first time coming to Macedonia and I love it already. The mountains are beautiful, the weather is nice compared to Aruba, the people from VCS are very nice and friendly. I feel at home. And coming from a small island to a big city is a new memory to make, and with new friends and helping the community is the best part of it! I’m looking forward to making memorable memories with VCS family.
