LEARNING ABOUT NEW MUSIC THAT YOU WILL PROBABLY LIKE (and finding it)
Musicologist, concert- and festival organizer, record label owner, DJ and Skopje EVS volunteer extraordinaire Koen will talk about and play music trying to find at least three new bands/musicians for everyone attending that they will probably like. Whether it is about singer/songwriters, guitar music, electronic music, triphop or indiepop; Koen likes to talk about music and to share his knowledge and collection. An important aspect is how to find it, and how to ‘ get’ it on your mp3 player or iPod.

THE LOST ART OF MAKING COMPILATION TAPES
Off course cassette taped compilations are something that now only are remembered in movies or in the nostalgic minds of people born in the early 1980’s. Still, it’s hard to think of a better way to express your love, gratitude or friendship that with a list of songs specially selected, which the recipient hasn’t heard of, to show how you feel. As John Cusack said in High Fidelity: “Now, the making of a good compilation tape is a very subtle art. Many do’s and don’ts. First of all you’re using someone else’s poetry to express how you feel. This is a delicate thing. It is hard to do and takes ages longer than it might seem. […] There are a lot of rules.” This workshop is about these rules, finding the right songs and putting them in the right place.
