Hi! My name is Jakub, I’m 19 and I’m from Ruda Śląska, Poland.
Last year I graduated from high school and I decided not to go, for now, to university. Since I remember I wanted to live abroad so the ESC program gives me the opportunity to make my dream real. First time I heard about ESC was in youth exchange in Hungary and I thought that is the thing that I want to do. After high school I went to work in a call center for 8 months. I found this project in January and I decided to go to Macedonia. The reason that I chose it is because I think it is an interesting country with a rich history, interesting people, beautiful nature and traditions.
I am an extravert person so I love spending time with people but also I like practising my hobbies in my free time. My first hobby is history, which is the subject that can explain past situations and gives advice to not make the same mistakes. My next passion is politics. I think that it is important to be conscious of what is going on in the world and country because it directly influences our lives. I am passionate about learning languages. I love getting to know different tools of learning and also how it is possible to explain the same thing in different ways. I can speak English, Polish, my regional language Silesian and I also learnt Latin. My last passion is coffee! I really like good coffee, I am interested in different styles of making coffee.
Here in VCS, I would like to use my knowledge to help the local community and improve my skills. I hope I will learn how to organize and lead workshops, write articles, design the magazine, and in general, how the NGO is working. I want to learn Macedonian and get my English to the next level. Also, I would like to get to know local traditions, food and normal life here in Skopje.
