Hallo! I’m Nelli, an 18-year-old from Thuringia, the green heart of Germany.

After finally finishing high school this spring, I knew it was time to try something new before choosing my life’s path. Also, because different cultures and countries have always interested me, I thought volunteering for a year would be an awesome opportunity to really get to know a country.

Aside from the new country, it’s my first time living in a shared flat as well. So this being my first time abroad long-term, I’ve felt a lot of mixed emotions.

However, no matter where I go, my love for music will be by my side. As music has always played a big part in my life, from playing the flute, the violin, or singing in a choir. Therefore, I’m looking forward to getting to know Macedonian music, because music is the language of the heart.

Besides that, I love to try out sports, just to fail at them miserably, so we will see what I’ll try during my stay in Skopje. I mean, who tries climbing with a fear of heights?
