Hi 🙂 I’m Maike from Bonn in Germany.

I recently graduated from high school, but before going to university to maybe study interdisciplinary science, I wanted to make new experiences, especially intercultural, interpersonal and personal ones, as well as learn things outside of school. So that’s what led me to VCS and Skopje 🙂

As a person, I like being active and doing things as well as just relaxing sometimes and being creative. I love being outside in nature, hiking, running or just chilling there (maybe with a good book). Also dancing is a big hobby of mine. For my creative side I do everything that associates with handcrafting like knitting or crocheting. As you may have noticed I have very different kinds of hobbies, because I am an open-minded person and I like trying new things and somehow I just end up liking and doing a bit of a lot of things rather than a lot of some things. I also enjoy doing things with friends, so I hope I am gonna find some here.

At VCS, I want to learn a lot of things and I am really curious about everything. I hope I can improve my writing and social media skills and learn how to do my own project (workshops) and have an impact on a community. I hope I can have a positive impact on this community by volunteering, sharing my knowledge and being part of the VCS family.

I am a bit of an overthinking person, so for volunteering my personal goal is to just go with the flow, and have fun while doing it. I love exploring new things, so I hope I can see a lot of the country and the Balkans in general and meet a lot of new and interesting people. I am also really curious about Macedonian culture and I am looking forward to learning more about it. With the few places that I have explored and people that I have met in Skopje in just two days, I already like the city and I’m sure it’s gonna feel like home.
