Shubhdeep Singh Parwana lives in Aarhus, Denmark and he is a cultural entrepreneur, artist and visual anthropology student. He finds inspiration in working with curiosity and ownership as methods to engage himself and others around him. His project is the creation of a mini festival and a series of different cultural events created by young cultural creators and artists.
Shubhdeep was selected for the project “European Youth at the frontlines of active citizenship: A Roadmap towards a collective South-North-East-West Momentum” organized by Volunteers Centre Skopje and supported by European Commission due to Erasmus+ European Youth Together programme.
What was the seeds to this project?
– I found a lacking in diversity regarding who was ‘allowed’ to act and create content when it came to the scene of arts and culture in Aarhus. A lacking especially of women and ‘internationals’ as well as ‘non-western immigrants and descents’ (a term used by the Danish State).
So, what is that your project can do?
– Hopefully, we can by creating our own platform show that things can be done in other ways than the traditional ones. By taking risks and by being daring enough to experiment I hope we can show a positive example that can inspire others.
Who would you love to see participate?
– Everyone. We especially try to engage young people because they have a special drive. However, I feel that one of the most beautiful things is when different generations do talk with each other because we can all learn so much from each other. As a young human being myself I try to stay humble and remember that our elders have so much wisdom.
