Youth for Culture – Back to Vevcani 2012 Started!

On 7 January started youth exchange Youth for Culture – Back to Vevcani 2012. For six years young people coming from all around Europe have an opportunity to take part in one of the oldest Macedonian tradition – Vevcani carnival which is being celebrating for more than 1.400 years and this year is not an exception. Why is Vevcani carnival taking place on 13 January unique? In fact it is a massive event in which everyone from village Vevcani is taking part and for participants of the youth exchange it is extraordinary opportunity to experience pagan traditions and interact with local community. But the Youth exchange – Back to Vevcani is not just about carnival for which participants are making their own masks during the project days it is also about intercultural learning and discovering cultural  traditions and customs of participants countries which this year are Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Spain, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania and Republic of Macedonia. All participants coming from these countries will on Friday, 13 January take part in Vevcani carnival and you do not miss the chance to join them.
