Youth Exchange “ Common Future” – Serbia

From 20th to 29th of October, 7 participants from Macedonia, representatives of Volunteers Center Skopje, took part in the Youth Exchange named “Common Future” which was held in Rudnik, Serbia. This Youth Exchange was organized by „Inženjeri zaštite životne sredine – Environment Engineering Group” and realized through the Erasmus+ programme. There also were participants from Slovenia and Hungary, and of course the hosting country – Serbia.

The main subjects of this Youth Exchange were the migrations and the climate change, as well as their connection. The participants found out that the migrations exist from the era of the first humans and that the first migrations were actually caused by the climate changes. In that time, our ancestors had to search for new places to live because of the extreme lowering of the temperatures, and that forced them to move from one place to another. Many years later the migrations are happening because of wars or economical causes. In order to understand the migrations more easily, the participants in this Youth Exchange shared some facts about where their family came from and they also presented  how the migrations affected the creation of their nations. At the end of this Youth Exchange, the participants organized an interactive workshop in which was briefly explained what has been done and learned in the past days. This workshop was done in the presence of high school students from the city of Gornji Milanovac, who were happy and satisfied because of the new knowledge and experience. Beside the educational part, this Youth Exchange allowed the participants to meet the natural beauty of the mountain and city of Rudnik, as well as the historical and cultural heritage of the city of Gornji Milanovac. During the tour in Gornji Milanovac, there was also a visit to the monastery complex Vracevshnica which dates from 15th century.
