Macedonian United Nations Model

Coalition of youth organizations SEGA in cooperation with volunteers from the Peace Corps in Macedonia in 2011 began to implement a new program within their operations – Model United Nations. United Nations Model is an academic simulation of the work of the United Nations that aims to educate young people about current events, international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations agenda. This program is being implemented in more than 80 countries around the world as a means of learning the world’s problems and ways of their solution in the framework of the United Nations. In this educational program youth take on the role of diplomats of UN member states, representing different countries and discuss specific topics on the agenda of the UN. Participants as delegates worked out strategies, preparing resolutions, negotiate, resolve conflict, following the UN procedure.

In May 2012 SEGA organized the first conference of the Macedonian United Nations Model in cooperation with Peace Corps volunteers in Macedonia on which participated more than 180 young people (high school and university students) of the Republic of Macedonia, as well as foreign students studying in our country. On the following link you can view the gallery with photos from the conference MMON 2012 (http://www.facebook.com/MacedoniaMUN/photos_albums).

The Coalition of youth organizations SEGA offers you the opportunity to directly get involved in the organization of the Conference MMON 2013. UN model involves young people in the study and discussion of global issues, encourages the development of skills useful for life, such as research, writing, public speaking, consensus building, conflict resolution, achieving a compromise and cooperation.
